Used to +المصدر من الفعل

تستخدم (used to) بمعنى (اعتاد أن) للتعبير عن عادة أو فعل كان يتكرر في الماضي ولم يعد يحدث الآن.

I used to play tennis a lot, but I don’t play very often now.

My father used to smoke, but he gave up.

I didn’t use to speak English at all. Now I speak it fairly well.

تستخدم (used to) أيضاً للتعبيرعن حقيقة في الماضي ولم تعد موجودة الآن.

This building is now a furniture shop. It used to be a cinema.

She used to be short, but now she is tall.

Did (he, she, they …) use to …?

Did you use to eat a lot of sweets when you were young?

Did they use to travel abroad?

Did she use to be short?

Be used to + gerund /noun

تستخدم (Be used to) بمعنى (معتاد على فعل كذا) للتعبير على أن الشخص معتاد على فعل شىء ما ولايسبب ذلك له أي مشكلة أو عدم راحة.

He is used to driving on the right.

She is used to living alone.                                            (هي) معتادة على العيش بمفردها

She isn’t used to the cold wind in Alaska.

Get used to + gerund / noun

تستخدم (Get used to) بمعنى (يتعود على) وغالباً ما نستخدم (can, can’t, could, couldn’t) قبلها.

Some of the riders couldn’t get used to the cold wind and had to quit.

You might find it strange at first but you’ll soon get used to it.
