Many, Much and A lot of

Much	(كثير من) – تأتي قبل اسم لا يعد وذلك في الجملة المنفية والسؤال

We didn’t spend much time.	جملة منفية
How much sugar do you want?	سؤال

Many	(كثير من) – تأتي قبل اسم يعد جمع وذلك في الجملة المنفية والسؤال

many friends

many people

many cars

How many tickets do you want?	سؤال
There aren’t many tourists.	جملة منفية

A lot of = lots of

(كثير من) – تأتي قبل اسم يعد جمع أو اسم لا يعد وذلك في الجملة المثبتة

We spent a lot of money.	جملة مثبتة
A lot of people drive too fast.	جملة مثبتة

لاحظ:

تستخدم (many) و(much) بعد (too, so, as)

There are too many cars.

I’ve got so much work.

I haven’t got as much money as you.

في المواقف الرسمية (مقالة في جريدة على سبيل المثال) يجوز استخدام (many, much) في الجملة المثبتة

Many students have financial problems.

There is much enthusiasm for the idea.
